When you live in Wisconsin, you measure your summers in weekends. And there are never enough. Not when winter lasts 11 months and 3 days in the northern Midwest.
(Side note: I pine for you, Florida winters. Dear God, nothing else, but definitely your winters.)
We’ve admittedly been spoiling Fox the last few weekends with fun summer adventures. A month ago, we went up north to the UP to spend time at my inlaws’ lake home. Three weekends back, we hit up the EAA Airventure show in Oshkosh and then visited the Shalom Wildlife Sanctuary with my dad who paid a visit. Last week was the county fair, complete with a monster truck rally (sweet Jesus).
Our child has not had a weekend that didn’t involve an overpriced event hotdog in the last month.
And because my parenting game is strong, I recently tried to balance the abundance of adventure gifts with fear by telling him if he gets too spoiled his skin will start turning green.
And now shamefully I admit the following: I then proceeded to check behind his ears and told him they’re starting to look a little bit colorful. I think I even brought Santa into the equation, although at some point my lie had spiraled out of control, and I’m starting to have trouble keeping track of when I pull out the Santa threat.
I’ve freaked him out royally, but it’s kept any whining for toys and more fair food to a minimum. Santa knows what’s up.
I’ve done no blogging whatsoever, and I’m feeling a might-bit guilty, so I’m going to throw a shit ton of photos at you of all the fun we’ve been having these last few weeks. It’s like when I let Curious George parent my kid for a few hours so I can
sleep on the couch get all my housework done.
So. Pictures. Glorious, glorious pictures for your viewing pleasure.

Oh you guys. I am tired. Which is why I’m writing to you now, at 12:30 in the afternoon on a Saturday, in my pajamas and with no plans to take them off for the day.
